Nursery Assistant – September 2026

About the role

We are seeking reliable, caring and enthusiastic Nursery Assistants to work across nurseries and early years settings in Macclesfield and the surrounding areas from September 2026.

A variety of flexible placements may be available, including daily supply, short-term assignments and long-term opportunities.

Key responsibilities

  • Support children’s learning and development through engaging, age-appropriate activities
  • Help provide a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment
  • Assist with daily nursery routines, including mealtimes and personal care
  • Observe children’s progress and share relevant information with senior staff
  • Support positive behaviour and children’s emotional wellbeing
  • Prepare activities, learning materials and play areas
  • Build positive relationships with children, parents and colleagues
  • Follow all safeguarding, health and safety, and nursery policies

Requirements

  • Recent experience working in a nursery or early years setting
  • A relevant childcare or early years qualification is desirable
  • A good understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
  • A caring, patient and proactive approach
  • The ability to engage and motivate young children
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • A current enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one

Nursery Practitioner – Supply (Flexible Hours)
Location: Newton Le Willows
Contract: Flexible / Day-to-Day Supply | Ongoing Opportunities
Pay: £14 – £15 per hour (dependent on experience and qualifications)

Premier Education Ltd are currently working in partnership with a number of nurseries and early years settings in and around Newton Le Willows who are seeking Nursery Practitioners to support on a flexible, supply basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking for flexible working arrangements, whether that’s a few days a week or more regular work. You will have the chance to gain experience across a variety of settings while supporting children in their early development.

The ideal candidate will be nurturing, reliable, and confident working with children aged 0–5 years, helping to create a safe, engaging, and stimulating environment.


Responsibilities

  • Support the care and development of children aged 0–5 years
  • Assist with play-based learning activities in line with the EYFS framework
  • Help create a safe, fun, and nurturing environment
  • Support children with daily routines, including mealtimes and personal care
  • Work collaboratively with nursery staff and early years teams
  • Observe and support children’s learning and development

Requirements

  • Experience working within a nursery or early years setting
  • A caring, patient, and enthusiastic approach
  • Flexibility to work across different nursery settings
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to provide two references covering the last two years of employment history
  • An Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one
  • A Level 2 or Level 3 childcare qualification is desirable but not essential
  • Paediatric First Aid is preferred
