Do I need a qualification to be a teaching assistant?
Not always, though many schools prefer a Level 2 or Level 3 qualification and it widens what we can offer you. Relevant experience with children matters just as much.
I have no experience. Can I still register?
We advise working on a voluntary basis first. We look for three to six months of experience in a setting where you are working with children aged 0 to 16, then come and talk to us.
Can I work as a teaching assistant part time?
Yes. Plenty of our teaching assistant placements are part time, from half a day a week upwards. You tell us the days you want.
What is the difference between a TA and an HLTA?
A higher level teaching assistant holds the HLTA status and takes on greater responsibility, including covering whole classes. HLTA roles usually pay more and we recruit for both.
