Job Summary

Experience

Position Overview: As an EYFS Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the learning and development of children aged 3 to 5 in the Early Years Foundation Stage. Your enthusiasm, patience, and dedication will contribute to creating a positive and engaging learning atmosphere for the young learners. You will also expected to work 1:1 with pupils with SEN. On some occasions, you will be asked to lead the class in absence of the teacher, so you would need to be confident with a full class of children.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the class teacher in planning and delivering age-appropriate activities that promote early literacy, numeracy, and social skills.
  • Support children in their personal, social, and emotional development, fostering a positive and nurturing environment.
  • Engage children in play-based learning activities, encouraging their curiosity and creativity.
  • Help to set up and maintain a safe and stimulating classroom environment conducive to learning and exploration.
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for children who may require additional assistance.
  • Collaborate with the teaching team to assess and monitor children's progress, providing valuable feedback to inform future planning.
  • Foster positive relationships with parents/guardians, keeping them informed about their child's progress and well-being.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and school events to contribute to the school's continuous improvement.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with young children is desirable but not essential; we welcome applications from enthusiastic individuals who are eager to learn and grow in this role.
  • A genuine passion for working with children and supporting their learning journey.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, allowing you to work effectively with children, parents, and colleagues.
  • Patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach to support children's emotional well-being.
  • An understanding of the EYFS curriculum or a willingness to learn about it.

Qualifications: A relevant childcare or TA qualification (e.g., CACHE, NVQ, BTEC Level 2 or 3) or an early years-related certificate is essential. Candidates with QTS or QTS pending also highly encouraged.
