Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing 1:1 support to a non-verbal KS1 child with complex needs
  • Engaging proactively with the child to encourage communication and interaction
  • Implementing strategies to support learning, development, and well-being
  • Working closely with teaching staff and SENCO to create a supportive environment
  • Using alternative communication methods such as PECS or Makaton (training can be provided)

Requirements:

  • Experience working with SEND pupils (essential)
  • Knowledge of complex needs and non-verbal communication strategies (preferred)
  • A patient, calm, and proactive approach to support
  • Strong behaviour management skills
  • A genuine passion for working with children with additional needs
