Premier Education are working with a large SEN trust in the Greater Manchester area who are looking to recruit a temporary lead nurse for their SEN college site in Openshaw. The role is to start as soon as possible and will extend until the trust recruits.
The successful candidate will lead the nursing team to develop the service to promote students' health and wellbeing and enable them to achieve educational progress. All students at the college are aged between 16 and 25 and have a variety of learning difficulties, physical disabilities and / or autism so experience with SEN would be beneficial.

As a large trust, you would get the opportunity to become a member of a large multidisciplinary team and work closely with Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapist and Positive Behaviour Support Practitioners to ensure the best health and well being of the students.

The key duties and responsibilities include:

-Managing nursing and medical services to support students learning and progress
-Delivering and supervising top quality nursing
-Assessment of medical and nursing needs of students and plan for the provision of services
-Line managing other nursers and health assistants to supervise medical practice.
-Acting as the Designated Safeguarding Lead alongside the Principal
-Clinical auditing monitoring skills of staff
-Liaise with parents, carers, care managers, social workers and other outside agencies as well as the rest of the care team within the college

We would love to hear from you if you have:
-NMC Registration as a registered Nurse
-Current general nursing clinical practice
-Worked effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team, including supervision of other staff members
-Good IT and administration skills
-Knowledge of basic clinical procedures including gastronomy feeds, administration of medication and epilepsy awareness.
-The ability to work across a range of sites and locations
-Experience with young people with SEN needs, challenging behaviour and mental health would be highly beneficial.
-The ability to lead and inspire a highly experienced team of medical practiitoners to ensure top quality nursing.
