Food Technology Teacher (SEMH)

  • Starting as soon as possible
  • Long term with potential to become permanent
  • Full time 5 days a week
  • Role is until at least Summer
  • £110-£150 per day depending on experience
  • Stoke area.

Premier Education is currently working on behalf of a fabulous SEMH provision in the Stoke area that is looking to appoint a Food Technology Teacher to start as soon as possible. This role will be full-time and lasting until at least Summer with potential to become permanent if successful.

The role would require the candidate to teach small groups of students between the ages of 11 and 16 with Attachment disorders and other SEMH needs. You would be teaching the fundamental skills within Food Technology such as safety in the kitchen, nutrition and healthy eating and instilling a love of cooking in a fun and accessible way.

The ideal candidate will ideally have prior experience of working with pupils with a wide range of SEMH needs and have a proven track-record as a teacher specialising in Food Technology. Most importantly, you must have a genuine interest in supporting SEMH pupils.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be an excellent practitioner with the commitment and motivation to inspire pupils’ learning and development
  • Have experience of teaching young people with SEMH needs within the primary or secondary sector or have a specific interest in developing their teaching skills in a special school setting.
  • Have high expectations of young people, and a commitment to raising standards of attainment to ensure that they can achieve their full educational potential
  • Have experience of enhancement of pupil progress gains and raising attainment and achievement levels of all students
  • Be able to demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement and innovation through imaginative and differentiated lessons which meet individual needs
  • Have experience of current assessment practice and the use of data and pupil progress tracking to ensure that all groups of learners achieve
  • Possess the emotional and physical resilience necessary when working with young people with a range of complex needs
  • Be able to build positive relationships with the class group, ensuring consistency and continuity on a daily basis.
  • Have the ability to foster good relationships with other staff, pupils, parents and the wider community
  • Be hard working, organised and proactive in their professional development
  • Be a team player who can work effectively with all members of the New Bridge team
