Senior Service Desk Technician

Based in Bradford - school setting 

Travel to other sites within West Yorkshire

Work from home up to 2 days per week

Salary: £32,909 - £36,298

Monday to Friday 37.5 hours per week 

We are delighted to present a brand new vacancy for an experienced Senior Service Desk Technician that is no available within a leading academy trust in the North of England. 

Do you:

  • Have experience of planning and organising infrastructure architecture effectively and efficently
  • Ten years or more working in an IT support role
  • Experience managing and setting priorities for the design, maintenance, development, and evaluation of all infrastructure systems including LANs, WANs, Internet, intranet, security, wireless, vSphere, Hyper-V, Corporate firewall, Enterprise Active Directory, MS SQL, SCCM, WDS, Windows server
  • Have knowledge and experience of cyber essential framework and data management information
  • Have the confidence and knowledge to coach and mentor
  • Have a strong moral purpose and drive for improvement.
  • Have excellent communication skills.
  • Have a University degree in computing, MSCA, or CCNA
  • Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle

About the job:

  • Provide support to the Trust's technical architecture, providing high availability of systems, strong technical support, design capabilities and effective deployment of new systems
  • Plan and organise infrastructure architecture effectively and efficiently
  • Ensure infrastructure is available during core operational times
  • Creating documentation and ensure existing technical documentation is kept up to date
  • Coaching and mentoring Junior colleagues within the IT Team
  • Help coordinating the testing and installation of new 3rd party software or services
  • Deal with complex problems and work to analyse and progress solutions and make recommendations where necessary
  • Follow approved procedures regarding change and change management
  • Keep accurate and timely records within the incident monitoring system making sure that the end user always receives feedback on the progress of faults and changes
  • Assess incoming incidents and prioritise work according to timescales and processes
  • Ensure servicing and maintenance schedules are undertaken at the most operationally / convenient times
  • Understand, interact and fall in line with departmental planning strategies, such as Project Management Principles
  • Work as part of a larger team to support multiple academies
  • Maintain an effective quality assurance process
  • Participate in, and lead, coaching; work in effective partnership with other leaders in our trust
  • Engage fully in the academy professional growth process to fulfil personal potential and be able to participate effectively in the implementation of the academy's strategic big moves
  • Attend meetings / training and carry out administrative tasks and duties as specified on the academy calendar
  • Consistently implement all academy policies and contribute to decision-making and consultation procedures
  • Carry out any other reasonable duties as requested by the Head of IT
