Based at a lovely Bolton Secondary School

· Working hours are Monday to Thursday 6.30am - 3pm and Friday 6.30am-11..30am

· Secondary School setting

· Immediate Start

· £25,583 to £27,254

· All Year contract not term time only

Premier Education are working with a well-established and welcoming secondary school to recruit a School Caretaker / Site Supervisor to take ownership of the day-to-day running of the site.

This is a key role within the school community perfect for someone who takes pride in their work, enjoys variety, and wants to make a genuine difference to the environment where young people learn and thrive.

You will have operational responsibility for the site, ensuring the school buildings and grounds are safe, secure, clean and well maintained for pupils, staff and visitors at all times

The Role

As School Caretaker / Site Supervisor, your responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing the general maintenance and upkeep of the school buildings and grounds
  • Carrying out routine maintenance, basic repairs and DIY tasks during the school day
  • Managing site security opening and closing the site, key-holding, alarms, CCTV and responding to emergencies
  • Ensuring high standards of cleanliness and supporting the cleaning team and lunchtime supervisors
  • Managing contractors on site and monitoring external services such as window cleaning
  • Maintaining health & safety standards, including fire safety, legionella checks, asbestos records and risk assessments
  • Preparing halls and rooms for assemblies, meetings and school events
  • Monitoring utilities usage (gas, electric, water) and maintaining site records
  • Maintaining outdoor areas including litter management, pathways, winter gritting and general grounds care

This is a hands-on, varied role where no two days are the same.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has wide general maintenance experience and is confident with basic building repairs
  • Is self-motivated, well organised and able to prioritise tasks effectively
  • Has a strong understanding of health & safety procedures
  • Enjoys working in a busy school environment and communicating with both adults and children…
  • Is reliable, proactive and takes real pride in their work
  • Ideally holds a relevant trade qualification or NVQ Level 3 (desirable but not essential)
