Special Educational Needs

Here at Premier Education we form close links and partnerships with our SEN schools and work hard to build an accurate understanding of each school ethos.

Our specialist SEN division works closely with mainstream schools and special SEN provisions, providing specialist staff to work alongside students with additional needs.

These roles include the following-

SEN Teaching Assistant: This can be a very rewarding role that typically involves supporting and assisting the teaching and learning of children with special educational needs. You may be required to work with a group of children or on a one to one basis depending on the needs of the children. You will need to have experience of behaviour management techniques and specialist equipment to provide enjoyable and productive classroom experience for all.

SEN Teacher: The role of a teacher within an SEN provision will differ depending on the types of needs of the students. Generally there will be support given in the form of a teaching assistant to help with the demands of the role.

Experience within these roles is essential and generally our clients would like applicants to have a minimum of six months experience within a similar setting and have worked with challenging behaviours. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a team are also essential. Experience with some/ all of the following special educational needs is preferable:

ASD, PMLD, EBSD, VI, HI, SLD, Global Development Delay and Speech and language difficulties.
