Support Staff
Support staff play a vital role in the learning and development of children throughout Primary and Secondary schools, Special Educational Needs Schools and Nurseries. The vacancies we have range from emergency, day to day, short term and long term cover and we have vacancies for:
- Teaching Assistants & Higher Level Teaching Assistants
- Learning Support Assistants
- Special Educational Needs Assistants
- Cover Supervisors
Working as a support assistant can be a lot of fun and extremely rewarding.
The work is often either with individual children or small groups of children and sometimes involves helping children with special educational needs. You may also be required to support the teacher by getting things ready for lessons, reading and telling stories, displaying art and craft work and liasing with other professionals, parents and carers.
At present there are no specific entry requirements for Support Staff however we do advise that applicants have a nationally recognised qualification or previous experience. The following qualifications are suitable: CACHE Level 2 Certificate for Teaching Assistants, NCFE Level 1 & 2 Certificate, BTEC Level 2 Certificate, ABC Level 2 Certificate. If you have successfully completed Level 2, or are an a existing teaching assistant you may wish to work towards the level 3 qualification.
The job title of ‘Cover Supervisor’ is very new in UK schools and is a rewarding and responsible position. On a daily basis, cover supervision includes supervising work that has been left by the class teacher and responding to questions / queries on it as well as managing the behaviour of pupils. You will need to hold a degree or have a teaching assistant qualification or both. As with all of our candidates if you wish to register for any of the above roles you will be required to complete our full registration process and attend a face to face interview.
